Shallower Thoughts ;)
Jan. 21st, 2012 09:50 amWell I survived my first week of school and I'm pretty much coasting along on that "this is GREAT, I can do ANYTHING" beginning-of-semester high... for now. I switched my classes a few weeks ago, swapping neuroscience for communication deviations and disorders... and I think that was smart. That's my most interesting class I think (judging by week one, anyway) and my research methods class is a lot of work. My cog psych class is ALSO a lot of work, but it's more like busy work than hard work. The research class requires me to actually be in the library - shoulda figured that one out by the title I think.
I am taking a water aerobics class (not through my school) and while I know its good for me to do some exercise and it does feel good to be in the water, and its an adaptive class so I can actually go there myself because I can have help getting into the water, it's pretty frustrating being there because it is full of old people who have no filter and talk about me to each other right in front of me and yes, do the face-in-my-face thing and speak slowly and clearly to me.
I went to the movies the other day and saw Disney's Beauty and the Beast in 3D. It was shown along with a short from Tangled, which was awesome and gorgeous, but the movie itself... did not hold up to my viewing it as an adult! Disney has come a long way since I was a kid! I remember when the Little Mermaid came out and how that was the first of the "new" Disney movies, and I remember when the Lion King came out and thinking, hm, that was not as good as all those other ones (and then everything after it sucked for a while) but I don't remember EVER having a negative opinion of Beauty and the Beast... but seeing the animation on the big screen was kind of a disappointment. Everything that was added in as CGI stuck out like a sore thumb and I was picking out animation blunders left and right - do I have an idealized memory of Disney animation or something? Or is this normal, and I'm just over-critical and spoiled by the modern masterpieces like Tangled?
Today I woke up to snow. Not sure when it started last night - long after I was safe and warm in bed, that's for sure! It appears to be raining now thought, so I'm thinking by the time I have to go out it will be more like slush.
