Please Explain This
Sep. 24th, 2009 05:33 pmWhy is it that every. single. time I walk up to a place of business that conducts transactions with a cash register behind a counter (fast food place, food court at the mall, etc) and I take great care to come nowhere near the "order here" area or the area where you would wait in line if there was a line, or even any part of the counter at all, or in any way make eye contact with the employee or even look in their direction, because since I just. walked. up I have no idea what I want or even what my choices are, being that I JUST WALKED UP and can not read an entire menu in half a second, the person behind the counter inevitably shouts at me, from ten or more feet away, "what can I get for you?" If I don't respond immediately, because I am trying to rapidly take in the main categories of the menu and choose something quickly, because suddenly I have to order RIGHT THEN, they invariably shout "Miss! Miss! What would you like?"
Today I just walked away. Hungry. Because I'm that fucking sick of it.
I know I've been on edge recently, and I know that in general small things tend to irritate me disproportionately, but seriously. Does anyone else experience this kind of thing, or is it for some reason unique to me?
