L&B are back from New York City. It was an eventful and interesting visit. And that's putting it as nicely as I possibly can. Perhaps I will describe it later.
It's pouring down snow today and I have to go to work later this afternoon, so... I mean, I've already dug the snow out from around my car twice. I guess I have to keep doing that until it's time for me to leave cause... B can't come over and bail me out if the car is stuck because he has no car of his own.
Jason and Minh landed safely in LA this morning. They left Wuhan on Thursday night. Yes. It was a two-day ordeal. Apparently they are going to Disneyland. Yes. Disneyland, and then Disney World, all in the space of two weeks. I mean... okay. If this is the only time she gets to California, and she's totally obsessed with all things Disney... all right, fine, go to Disneyland. But seriously? Disneyland? She's about to spend a week in Disney World!
I am finally excited about Disney. I mean, I was excited when Bevan first brought it up and then I kind of just... crashed. Well, I'm excited again. This is the best idea anyone has ever had. I am so incredibly excited to go. And it doesn't snow in Orlando - in fact, the water parks are open so it must be pretty warm... we have these all inclusive passes that work for the water parks too, but I don't think I'm going to either of them. I thought about it and thought about it and I thought about what a hassle it will be to get on the slides and stuff and to get around the park, period while getting in and out of the water and you know, I've never been to a water park. The only reason for this is that I've never felt the desire to do so. Add to that that it is winter, even if it is in Florida, and I realized one simple deciding fact: I will be cold. Even if it's seventy degrees outside, or even eighty (not sure about what FL weather is like) I will still be cold. And I will be miserable. So that is that - no water parks for me.
Minh neither knows how to swim nor enjoys getting wet and so... apparently, while the boys are at the water parks, she and I will do "girl things." Which sounds lovely but you know what? I've never spoken to Minh on the phone. I've spoken to Jason several times over. Bevan has never spoken to Minh either - because she doesn't speak English. I kind of just realized this... but, I mean, why would she speak English? She's Vietnamese. She lives in China. She and Jason speak Chinese to each other. She also speaks French, I think, but not English. Well, maybe as much English as I speak Chinese. Which isn't much.
And so... yes. Girl time with Minh will definitely be an adventure.
We're leaving Wednesday morning. As long as all flights are on schedule, they will already be there when we arrive. IM SO EXCITED.
Edit: Looked up the weather in Orlando. Temperatures will likely be between sixty and seventy - for boys who go surfing in the winter, this is fine. For girls who wear hoodies in June, um, no freakin' way!
