10 Important People

( A word on things I can't live without )
Now as for 10 important people, I really don't know if the question is referring to important people in the world (which would require a lot of research) or people important to me. I think if it was the world, I'd have a lot of inventors and musicians on that list, and definitely some activists, and some medical pioneers... I could go on and on. Of course I have no idea who any of these people are - should I? I might just have to spend the entire day googling. I once had someone ask me, as a creative and thought provoking "get to know you" question, if I could be born at any time in history when would I choose? What great historical period would I want to have lived through and experienced? Ancient Rome? Ancient Greece? Medieval times, the Renaissence? Biblical times? The American 1950's? My answer was now. This time. No other time, unless I get to choose the future. It was a guy who asked me this question. His answer was that he wanted to experience life in medieval times, with knights and kings and queens and heroes and ballads and whatever... and I can absolutely see being curious about the lifestyles of other time periods. But even in my imagination I can't get past the fact that since I'm a girl, I wouldn't have seen much. I'd have been property. My function would have been to produce babies. Before the 1970s I would have been thrown out of a public place for wearing PANTS!
Also, who invented all the things that keep me alive RIGHT NOW, not to mention all the things that were done to save my life when I was hurt? I have no idea who any of those people are. When did a spinal cord injury become something a person could expect to SURVIVE? It was pretty recently.
