You Don't Get Upset, You Let Me Eat You

Who started bawling in the movie theatre while watching "Where The Wild Things Are?"
Yes.
That movie was so pretty - those creatures were amazing - and Lara could not stop crying.
As a movie, on the whole... I'm not sure it was really that successful. One, I think it was way too long. I'm sure it could have been a nice twenty-five minute short and would have been fine. Two - I don't believe for a minute that's a movie for children. Any kid who is old enough to understand more than "hey there are a bunch of monsters running around on the screen, and that kid is king of them all" would have left that theatre extremely upset.
Just like I did.
The whole thing was upsetting - there was so much emotional tension, and none of it was resolved. The kid left the island with nothing having been fixed and nothing having changed and everything just as messed up as it had been before he got there.
And the scene were Judith starts yelling at him and saying "you're the king! It doesn't matter what you want! You don't get upset, you're supposed to fix everything. If I say I want to eat you, you don't get upset, you let me eat you! Because that's your job!" - yeah. That's kind of where I lost it.
I went with JJ and Chris because when I was at work drinking that strange green drink I said I wanted to see that movie before it left the theatre, and B said absolutely he wasn't going to a movie with me, and she said she wanted to go and then yesterday she invited me with her and Chris. So I went and now... they both probably think I'm crazy.
I know that's what I'd think.
