Some Things

Ok, I'll try my best to drudge up a real post.
I had a really bad week last week, which isn't fair. I'm doing well enough in therapy that I've got a decent amount of independent movement in my shoulders, meaning I can do a few things like make coffee or get breakfast or something, as long as it's set up for me ahead of time (so basically I can flip the switch on the coffee machine and then pick up the cup and take it with me when it's full) but I was really, really sick! I was so miserable I could do pretty much... nothing, so I got very behind in my online classes and missed the in-person meeting on Friday because I was at the doctor's.
However, apparently I talk (read: type) so much in my class that I was QUITE missed by my entire class, as the board was covered with "Where was Lara in class? Haven't heard from her in a few days, was looking forward to her opinions!" -type messages. Which did make me feel really good. I didn't really start out being super talkative, I think that's just been in the last few weeks, cause at one point someone did say something like "what do you do, just check the boards ALL. DAY. LONG and start your reply as soon as someone else posts something?" (It's a message board based discussion class, which is really freakin' cool, we are required to post a certain amount of responses totaling a certain amount of words each day) and I was pretty much like "yes."
In a few weeks I'll be going to school 3 days a week to finish my Phon/Phon class that I took an incomplete in last semester. It's at 9:20 am, which is a good time for me, because if I just get up and out of bed around when I normally wake up (instead of laying around waiting for Bevan to wake up) and get out the door (instead of dawdling around online) I'd be at school right around... well, right then. So it won't really disturb my routine much to add school into the mix. Although it does mean that Bevan will have to get up with me, and be awake by a certain time on certain days, which he USED to be ok at doing (although not totally awesome) but more recently I think he has a harder time with it. I don't mean it would be impossible - more like an inconvenience and kind of an effort is all.
I got really lucky with this class - it used to be offered in half terms - 1st half was Phonestics, 2nd half was Phonology, and so I completed the first half last spring and and taking the second half this fall, even though it's not set up that way anymore. The teacher was so used to it being that way that actually she suggested doing this, and I'm glad it worked out this way because then all my prereqs will be finished before I start my spring semester, and my full time status for last year will still be intact. Ideally I would have liked to be on campus all semester this fall taking Chinese and Psych, but with that not being possible, my online classes are at least very interesting. They do require a lot of work, but I have time to do it.
Also the post-season has started in baseball, which is significant because my boyfriend seems to equate that with us getting together, so this would make us according to him having been together for nearly three years. I'm not going to argue with him if that's how he wants to see it, but at the same time, the year he spent in another country (and the snowboarding excursion WITH ANOTHER GIRL) don't exactly figure into MY calculations of our time together!
I plucked my eyebrows all in one day (it's kinda excruciating to hold my hand up to my eye for that long, so usually I do a little bit at a time - hey, I have really big eyebrows) for the first time since having surgery, so that was kinda significant. Uh, also Bevan planted some things in our garden that are supposed to be fall plants, that come back every year, and told me to dump the coffee grounds in the garden every morning because it's good for the soil. I've never heard of that before, but whatever. That's my little chore. He spends half a day doing something nice with the garden, (and it does look pretty nice) and I spend an extra ten minutes spilling coffee grounds in it. Very fair.

Why am I not surprised :)
Very cool.
hehehe :)
RE: School (in person)- I'm sure it will go fine. If it goes like my first weeks of school, you'll do really good at getting out of the house the first day or two, then because it goes so well, you'll slack off a bit and then it just ends up being a pain to get to class for the rest of the term. Sorry you weren't on campus for the start of the term but it sounds like you totally made the right decision about taking online classes this semester.
You know, after the Phillies game on Sunday I actually pondered this a bit. I was actually going to ask you about it when we talked but it slipped my mind. In my mind, okay, so you two might not have exactly been together for exactly three years but, it has been three years since you guys were first started dating or whatever, so it is still the anniversary. I don't think its that important that you guys spent ~6 months apart. Well kinda, I think it helped some good things happen, but as far as how long you have been together I don't think it matters much. Sure he may have gone snowboarding with someone else, but you two were still talking on the phone to each other on a regular basis, and it was still known between the two of you that despite what might happen when you were apart you still were going to be together.
ALL of your eyebrows? or just the errant hairs? :P
Oooh? Pictures? I wish I was inspired enough to do something with my garden. I don't even get around to trimming my rose bushes.
Agreed. Unless he only spends a half a day once and you spend 10 minutes every day, then after 24 days or so, it isn't quite so fair for you :)
Anyway it sounds like it going well (well except the sick part), glad to hear it :)

Date: 2011-10-06 09:24 pm (UTC)Sorry you had a bad week. Hopefully this one's going better! And that's super awesome that people are all like 'where were you' for your classes. That probably means you're well-liked, intelligent, but not annoying. ;D
